Origin of Blue Fish

The name comes from a personal experience of our partner in the USA, with whom we created the brand.

15 years ago, we were looking to launch a brand to freshen the German wines category. When sailing in the Caribbean, the sales director saw a Blue Marlin jumping in front of him. He immediately thought:

What a beautiful Blue Fish!

Almost 15 years later, the brand proves to be in good shape and keeps delighting consumers world wide.

Blue Fish wines are made in our facilities in Niederkirchen, called Die Weinmacher (The Winemakers).

Close to 200 families take care of the vineyards that supply the grapes for the wines. They are members of the cooperative that gave birth to Blue Fish.

The growing area, called Mittelhaardt, is the northern district of Pfalz (Palatinate), the largest single Riesling growing appelation world wide!

Sustainability

Die Weinmacher – winegrowers of Blue Fish make huge efforts to preserve a healthy environment.

  • Reducing fertilization by soil samples to protect ground water
  • Reducing spraying against insects. This helps to protect useful creatures in the vineyards
  • No use of GMO (genetically modified organism) at any stage of production in the vineyards and wine cellars
